Palmetto Citizens exists to provide more than financial services, we also look beyond our walls to our local community. This philosophy leads us to support worthwhile charitable and social causes.

Locally Invested

We are proud to help many local charities, schools and other organizations in a variety of ways, including volunteer service and monetary donations.

Harvest Hope Food Bank – For over 20 years, we've been proud to support our local food bank and our neighbors in need. Help Palmetto Citizens provide hope to our community! November 1st through November 29th, we're collecting monetary and non-perishable food donations online and in our branches. In total since 2002, we've been able to donate $215,000 for this important cause!

Free Document Shredding - We continue to help keep information out of the hands of identity thieves by hosting a series of no cost shredding days. At our last Shred Day of 2024, hosted at our Irmo branch, we assisted consumers by shredding over 12,000 pounds of their personal documents and other sensitive materials! Since 2008, we’ve helped consumers shred nearly 840 tons of personal information.

Higher Education Scholarship Program - Every year Palmetto Citizens offers students an opportunity to apply for one of twenty $1,000 higher education scholarships. Learn more about our 2025 Scholarship Program and encourage your student to apply today!

Breast Cancer Centers - Every year, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we make donations of $10,000 on behalf of our members and staff to both the Prisma Health Foundation and Lexington Medical Center Foundation. These donations will help support the Breast Centers within each hospital system.

Palmetto Citizens Teacher of the Game! - Starting in November 2023, we were proud to acknowledge our roots, being founded as Columbia Teachers Credit Union, and recognize educators in our community as the Palmetto Citizens Teacher of the Game. During each USC football game throughout the month, one educator was selected to be recognized on the scoreboard, awarded 4 tickets to that week's game, and also received $1,000.

Children's Hospital – Every year, we raise money for our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Prisma Health Children's Hospital - Midlands. Since beginning this annual fundraising effort in 2005, we've been able to donate over $527,000. Thank you to all our members, staff and business partners who have helped make this possible!

Emmanuwheel - Multiple times per year, our staff volunteers partner with Emmanuwheel to build wheelchair ramps at the homes of a mobility-impaired individuals within the Midlands who will now be able to safely transport into and out of their homes.

Transitions Homeless Center - Throughout the year, our staff volunteers assist the center with serving lunch to homeless adults in the Midlands. Volunteers work together to pack "to go" style meals for residents of Transitions.

Financial Presentations & Materials - Palmetto Citizens is always happy to assist local schools, youth groups and other organizations by providing speakers and/or materials on a variety of financial topics. To request a speaker for your classroom or group, or for more information on other materials we can provide such as educational handouts, sample checkbooks, or online resources, please contact our Community Relations Department using the information below.
